Children’s Centres

YMCA Bournemouth manages two Surestart Children’s Centres on behalf of the local authority in the Pokesdown and Southbourne area. These provide a range of play, care and support services for children, adults and young families.

Southbourne Children’s Centres

Southbourne_100dpiLocated in the newly rebuilt Stourvale Road Centre, Southbourne Children’s Centre has a packed weekly programme of activities as well as providing family support in the community.

Regular sessions and groups include:

  • Under One’s Group
  • Stay and Play sessions
  • Childminder Group
  • Well Baby Health Clinic
  • Breastfeeding Group
  • Parenting
  • Language Support Group/SEN Support
  • Plus much more.

YMCA Bournemouth’s Child Contact Centre (main office) is located at Southbourne Children’s Centre. They provide a safe and secure environment for supervised and supported family contact.

The centre has gained enhanced accreditation from The National Association of Child Contact Centres (NACC) and will help separated families work towards building positive relationships.

Pokesdown Children’s Centres

pokesdown_100dpiSituated on Somerset Road, Freemantle Hall is the location of Pokesdown Children’s Centre and Teddy’s Pre School & Creche. The Ofsted registered facilities provide a range of activities including:

  • Stay & Play sessions (learning through play groups for parents and children)
  • Varied and accessible adult learning programme – with creche places available on site
  • Chatterbox family support drop-in
  • Holiday play activities and outings

 

Experienced staff are on hand to deal with queries. We can provide information, help and advice for parents and carers with regards to a range of subjects including:

  • family learning
  • childcare
  • returning to work
  • housing needs
  • special needs support services
