Family Work Job Vacancies

Early Years Practitioner (35 hrs)

We have a really special role available as an Early Years Practitioner who will be working within the Preschool space at Teddy’s Pre-school, based in the BH7 area of Bournemouth, Dorset. The candidate must have a minimum of a Level 2 qualification and have experience of working within a small team. We follow the in-the-moment planning philosophy, and believe that child-led learning leads to outstanding progress. Part of the role is to champion this ethos and role-model it to all practitioners, students and volunteers, with whom you work directly along with explaining it to parents/carers and other professionals with whom it may be a new area. Understanding and experience of ITMP and a huge passion for it is therefore highly desirable.

The preschool room holds up to 40 children and the toddler space upstairs holds 18 children currently. We have recently expanded due to high levels of demand for spaces most of which happen through word of mouth, which is a great reflection on our work within the community. As we promote in-the-moment planning, there are no forward planned activities, we share in the joy of each learning moment that arises with the children. You have the freedom to be as creative as you can to ensure that our children get the best possible learning experience, whilst you have fun too. We also use an online observation system, so no more piles of paperwork!

Fed up of being stuck inside? We have a great outside space which includes an outdoor art studio and currently have free-flow access to it in all weathers.  This is a major part of this role – being outside, and so a strong passion for outdoor learning would be highly desirable. We also support several children with additional needs and a majority of children have English as an additional language, and so experience of supporting in these areas is a must.

The vacancy is for 35 hours: 8.45am-4.15pm Monday to Friday, term time only (39 weeks)

Salary: YMCA Bournemouth Grade 4: £16,286 – £19,761 per annum, pro rata, dependent on experience and qualifications.
