YMCA Youth Forum is a consultation group for all youth groups at YMCA Bournemouth.
The Youth Forums summer activity took place at Avon Tyrell in the New Forest. Part of the visit was to review how the facility works with young people as one of the group’s chosen 6 organisations to review this year.
The young people and staff had an amazing day canoeing and generally socialising with each other. Only 2 young people fell into the water, which was quite lucky! When the group returned they paid a visit to the Youth Service’s Rendezvous Music Festival where they helped at the YMCA marquee.

2016 Project: Explore Diversity & European Youth Exchange
The Youth Forum have taken part in a European Youth Exchange. They organised an inspiring conference at the Henry Brown Youth Centre to raise awareness as well as promoting inclusion and equality in the local community.
Explore Diversity was planned for several months by the Youth Forum of young people from YMCA Bournemouth and was the culmination of an 8-day European Youth Exchange with young people from YMCA Bournemouth, YMCA Dobrich (Bulgaria), YMCA Norway and Youth Senate Strumica (Macedonia).
During the Exchange, 27 young participants explored topics relating to equality & diversity as well as learning about different cultures & traditions. The young people made presentations, facilitated workshops and ensured the smooth running of the day.
The conference helped young people to develop their communication skills, focused on equality and diversity awareness in the community and in a wider global sense.
Other topics of the workshops were focused on mental health awareness, access to amenities from the perspective of someone with a disability and raising awareness around physical and mental disabilities.
We are also part of Diverse Dorset – A consortium of partner organisations with an aim of addressing discrimination across Dorset.
