John Good

Lead Chaplain

As an accredited Baptist minister and chaplain with the YMCA, I am deeply committed to nurturing the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of everyone I encounter. My passion lies in discovering innovative ways for people to deepen their relationship with Jesus, a mission that has been at the core of my ministry for the past 20 years.

I lead an outdoor expression of church in Poole called Ocean Church. You can learn more about it at www.oceanchurch.uk.

In my spare time, you might find me reading, cooking, hanging out with friends, or trying to surf a wave or two at Kimmeridge Bay.

Tim Partridge

Partnerships and Volunteer Co-Ordinator

I joined YMCA Bournemouth in 2023 moving from another charity where I worked as a local group coordinator across the south west region.

With over thirty years’ experience working in charities large and small, I have done various roles from driving specialist ambulances, to supporting deaf children and their families.

I have been privileged to have lived and worked in many places including almost ten years in London, two years in Germany and several years in France.

In my spare time I enjoy volunteering and am currently supporting a foodbank and lifesaving organisation locally.

My role at YMCA is to develop the volunteering opportunities within the Chaplaincy team and  to reach out to churches to build partnerships with YMCA locations across BCP.

I am excited by the challenges ahead and look forward to developing our amazing volunteer team in 2024

We have also been blessed to have volunteer Chaplains who have given of their time and expertise in coming along side and spending time with our residents.

Susan Sutherland

Volunteer Mental Health Chaplain

Hello everyone, just a few lines about myself and what I am up to.

I have been coming to YMCA Bournemouth off and on for nearly 2 years now, but for the last 6 months I have been spending time at Westover Road every Wednesday as part of the chaplaincy team – thank you for making me feel so welcome!

My background is adult education, and now I have a passion for promoting good mental health and wellbeing through chaplaincy, mental health training, and coaching.

If any of us on the chaplaincy team can be of help to you, please don’t hesitate to ask. We all have a living, active Christian faith, but we are here for everyone, whatever your background or beliefs. I am usually around at snack n chat on Wednesdays.  All are welcome – and sometimes I bring cake!
