The Townsend Youth Partnership (Charity number 1093213) is situated on the Townsend estate in Bournemouth. The partnership provides a safe place for young people to go, providing positive opportunities for them to develop personal and social/interpersonal skills.
The partnership recently received a grant of £2,500 awarded by The KFC Youth Foundation to enable the delivery of youth work at Townsend Youth Club.
Young people are supported by trained youth workers, who are able to advise, encourage and work with young people at a critical time in their lives, to maximise their potential.
The club is open on Wednesday between 4 and 8 pm and is for 5-11 year olds and Thursday 6.00pm – 8.30pm for young people between the ages of 11 and16.
Activities include: arts/crafts; football, basketball, cooking; music, board games, consoles, pool, and opportunities for engagement in learning life-skills.
The youth club aims to give young people the opportunity to fulfil their potential whilst improving their well-being, self-esteem and independence. It is a social space to meet friends and make new ones.
Jackie Huggett, Head of Family and Youth Services says “ We are really pleased to receive this grant as it will enable us to continue our valuable work supporting young people on Townsend”.
An attendee of the youth club said “My house is boring, here I can see other people. I like it because there are other kids.”
